Default transferring money from London to Canada

Hi
I need to transfer money ASAP from my account in the UK to an account in Canada. i have registered with these foreign xchange companies. I faxed them my certified ID'S but they want the originals in the post which will take about 5 days to get there
My bank in the UK will not dothe transfer over the phone I have to go in person and the rates are rubbish
Western union only allow 500pds
Any ideas

Hi: Follow a thread titled "Re: Exchange rates British Pound to Canadian Dollar " - in ther I asked something along these lines and biiiink gave a very uselful reply about HSBC - I've already opened my account on theback of what she said. I have no experience yet of transferring money - but take a look and have a think.

I have transferred money to my CIBC account a couple of times - the minimum charge seems to be about £22 or thereabouts. There does not seem to be a maximum transfer amount, although I must admit I have not transferred more than about £600 at a time....not the banks rules, just my poxy financial situation!!
