Never had an issue in the Uk seeing a doctor or in fact moving practices - even in the small village in the Cotswolds there were 3 doctors practices and 2 dentists.

The comparison seems to be with a specific US state, one without seasons, where iced hockey is not played, where chips don't come with cheese curds and where the beggers are even more aggressive than in Canada.

It can't be NC (seasons), MI (iced hockey), WI (cheese curds) or CA (mellow beggars, dude) so I'm guessing Alaska. I don't know about begging strategies in AK but will ask those who will know.

Sorry,,, But
1 is more more liklely to happen in Canada, get outside of the cities and you'll find a serious shortage of doctors here, they prefer the wages down south...

2 The Homelees do ask and can get qute irritated when you say no, I got asked walking back down Broadway (Vancouver ) on Thursday night..

I ignore them. Arguably, it's more polite to tell them to **** Off, as that acknowledges their humanity but I don't feel comfortable walking along muttering **** off, **** off, **** off.

Every now and then one gets bent out of shape at being ignored and starts screaming and raving. Once one pulled a knife, a small knife, which made me think of Crocodile Dundee.

Luckily those pedestrians can't point the finger of blame because, (i) their fingers are broken, and (ii) they're dead.

1. Beautiful scenery in W.Canada - Calgary being close to the Rockies.
2. Amazing hiking in the Rockies (summer) and skiiing etc., in the winter.
3. The sushi! totally addicted to it.....
4. Loads of work in O&G here in Calgary [for now]. Great opportunities to work on large (and small) projects in a variety of areas.
5. Low crime rate compared to the UK.

I think the default view of all these contributions should be sarcasm. There are a few which are better interpreted as plainly naive though.

It's very difficult to separate the sarcasm from the naiveté.
