Default Top 5 things about Canada

Hi Everyone,

In an attempt to stay positive about the move over I thought it may help to share my top 5 things about living in Canada, and hope to gain some from you all that I have not thought of.

1. Friendly people
2. Feel safe, less crime
3. Great takeaway food and a good cost
4. Pedestrians get the right of way
5. Watching NBA & NFL with out having to stay up into the early hours

Anything I have missed?

I am guessing that you want number 4 scrapped as you are a driver.... where as I am a walker.....

I was expecting someone to scrap number 5 first !!

1. Cheap Houses
2. No crime, or at least no getting worked up about locking all the doors and windows all the time or going out after dark alone.
3. Tight community spirit
4. 4 distinct seasons
5. Far less crowded

4 of these seem very "location" dependent to me and probably dont apply to the larger canadian cities.

Ive no problem with pedestrian rights of way other than they are often ignored by drivers and that puts pedestrians at risk.

Before I got rid of the telly subscription Id have said constant NBA/ NFL/ NHL saturation coverage was a negative, but each to their own.

2. Table service and better service in nearly all bars

3. Hotter Summers (in Toronto anyway)

4. Premier League football when you wake up on weekends (You obviously also need to subscribe to Sportsnet World).

5. Easier access to Snow sports in many parts of Canada versus say the UK for example.

1. Its easy to tell people who ask you where you are from rather than thinking do I say England, the UK or Great Britain.
2. You only need to be concerned with one road to get across it.
3. Less chavs, pikeys, cockneys, scousers etc etc.
4. No TOWIE
5. mmmmm Im running out of things but the scenery is spectacular from the frozen tundra of the North (Regina not included), the Rockies, our lakes being a touch bigger than the Lake District, and wide open spaces to escape to.

In no particular order:

Wildlife "on the doorstep"

The "good" scenery (provincial parks, beaches etc). Lots of activities/places to visit without having to travel far

The varieties of extreme weather

Being back in the 1970's

Being able to carry out witchcraft, while naked, in the front yard
