Timescale from receiving PR to landing

Hi folks,
buzzing a bit at the moment, as received request for medicals today, so please bear with me if I ramble.

I have a question regarding the time you have to enter Canada from the issue of PR. The reason I ask is because my wife has recently started a new job as a teacher, and has to complete a year in service to obtain QTS.

She is now panicking that we will have to move to Canada before the year is up.
I am being a tad more chilled about it, as I am under the impression that being issued with a PR has a period by which you have to land, but not necessarily bound for all time!!

Is this correct? Does anyone know what this timescale is??

Many thanks in anticipation of response (and apologies for the rambling!!)

Sean

You have one year from the date of your medical to 'land'. You then have a further 3 years before you have to move here to meet the 2 years out of every 5 rule.

Thanks for the info Alan, that should pacify the "oh my God" and "what if"'s from the missus.

Yeah, you don't have anything to worry about. You'll just have to come here on holiday to do the landing bit before the visa runs out.
