I never knew so many people like to swill their mouths out with dirty dish water.

Tim Horton's is the first place I think of when I need to wash my socks.

I really really cannot understand this continuous love in for this muck I really can't..

Star Bucks is bloody ridiculous price but I don't find Timmies over priced, do you?

It is weird, one of the few coffees that triggers me to think while drinking "what is it all about?" and when I finish I think "nice after taste, I must drink this more often".

I will not wait in a queue for it and certainly not at a 5 car drive through queue, but if there is no line then I might just drive in and get one. I probably have a Tims about once a month.

Starbucks wins hands down.

You may think it's muck I don't really care for it either but as I said earlier in this thread it would be an awfully boring world if we all liked the same things.

I likely could find something you really enjoy that I thought was shit. :sneaky:

Now you're talking! Caffe Artigiano is only in Vancouver, although I think they're opening a location in Calgary (?)

This whole "Timmies vs. Starbucks" reminds me of people comparing Burger King to McDonald's when you could be having slow cooked homemade Yorkshire puds instead. ;)

:D I was thinking that...

I used to work for a famous big name Petfood manufacturer in England. At the time they were the biggest sellers, leaving the competition in their wake.

They had a process for an 'additive' which they put in their #1 seller cat food, which made the product slightly addictive to the pets, where for most cats, once they ate it they would turn their noses up to other food (until hunger became too much of course)..

It wasn't a chemical, just a process on one of the materials which, lets say, heightened the taste and smell a bit. 8 out of 10 cats would agree it seemed ;)

I have often wondered since I've lived here if Tim Horton's bought the process :D:rofl:

No doubt, I prefer real ale whilst most prefer lager and all that.

Its not the fact that some people like it that disturbs me, its the constant praise as if its mana from heaven that I cannot understand.

Coffee - better at Starbucks, Nero, in fact any coffee shop where they sell individual expresso coffee's, made in proper machines.

Doughnuts - Better at Krispy Kreme and very similar at Dunkin's

Sandwiches - Better at any 'sub' type store.

My wife (who likes her coffee) went into one with a friend and seen Cappuccino on the board so asked for one and the server asked vanilla or toffee, my wife said no, just a normal one please, the server looked at her stupid and did not understand... they did not sell normal ones :frown:

I presume the ones they sold were powdered flavoured ones out of a tin!!

I'm convinced they pre-sweeten their coffee too.

Horses for courses and all that.

I'm not a huge Timmies coffee fan (Steve and I have a gentleman's agreement to disagree on this point :)) but they do give value for money for what you get.

It p**sed me off back home when I had to hand over a considerable sum of cash for a questionable coffee from Costa's or a boutique coffee shop.

It's worse buying the sandwiches at Costa or Starbucks. Total Rip Off!

A freind of mine was a Production Manager at a Sandwich Making Facility and two of their biggest clients were Asda and Costa. The same sandwiches with different packaging costing something like 30 pence to produce then sold on for nearly double and then the two retailers charge very different amounts.

I have been known to take my starbucks into tims so I can enjoy their nice fresh cinnamon rolls!

the chilli isnt bad either, but the drinks suck!

in fact North american coffee generally stinks, starbucks is good, caribou coffee is excellent - but I've only found it in minnesota and the dakotas. There are a few good italian places about. One of the best places for coffee in winnipeg is mercardo's gelati (which I think are from calgary)

I made the mistake of getting a coffee in perkins

Timmies coffee is fu... I nearly swore then, but it's disgusting. Yes, it's cheap, and pretty much everything else they do is good (mmm, honey cruller), but the coffee is awful.

Starbucks is overpriced, but it depends what you get. A latte is expensive, but then it's all milk. I usually get a venti drip and it's $2.15 I think.

Re: Tim Hortons or Starbucks?

I loved the ICE Capps (not great for winter no doubt), I ordered an ICEd coffee when we got back from Starbucks and gagged bleugh!

Also loved the french vanilla.

But that said I'm a mega black coffee drinker - strong filtered stuff and when I drank theirs black it was horrid. So it will be on to the fattening stuff when I go over there no doubt.

I loved the timbits too.
