Speaking of a Timmies run.

I would like to know why people will line up in the drive-thru line at Timmies out to the street and wait 20 minutes to half an hour for a cup of coffee when they could most likely have made a pot at home and had that extra time to get ready for work. Or get to work earlier and make coffee there.

They could even buy Timmies to make at home or work.

I would certainly hope they are not using the Timmies line-up as an excuse to be late.

I didn't vote as my answer wasn't there, see post #3.

Neither was yours but Starbucks is the closest answer for you, not one of their fancy crapolatte's but plain coffee.

Indeed. I was merely acting in my capacity as 'the voice of your conscience.'

I do get of my arse and walk in, I have no idea why anyone needs a drive thru.

It made me laugh when we saw drive thru cash machines.

Thank you kind sir, you are very astute in recognising I don't really have a conscience and thus needed to act on my behalf.

I find a conscience to be an unnecessary burden and prefer the concept of 'flexible morality'. That's why (and getting this thread back on track) I prefer the expensive crap they serve at Starbluegh!

I laughed when I first saw drive through cash machines as well - but actually now use one fairly frequently, as the closest ATM of the right flavour for me is a drivethrough. It's convenient if you have small kids in the car, as you don't have to park up, untie them from all their various straps, drag them into the lobby where the rest of the ATMs are, and try to prevent them from pressing any buttons while getting cash out.

I certainly wouldn't bother, though, if there was a line-up. I rarely do the Tim Horton's thing (I think their coffee tastes like warm dishwater; I'd rather make my own or go to an independent or specialist franchise like Lettieri that actually knows how to make coffee that tastes of coffee) but I'd definitely never wait 20 minutes queuing for a drive through if the option was there to park up and go up to the (empty) counter inside.

What banks have drive thru ATM's out there then?

Can you pay money in like you can in the US?

We've used a Scotia Bank one, so they certainly do, but as for paying in, only if you happen to have a private stash of their paying in envelopes as it seems like there are *never* any at the drive through!

All of them (so long as you can put up with the downsides of living in suburbia in the kind of car-dependent environment where it makes sense to build a drive-through bank - or a "drive-by" bank, as my dad put it when he was visiting, and as it's now known in our household)

Yes, so long as there's a paying-in envelope. There usually is at my branch, but YMMV.

I liked Timmies because it doesn't leave the after taste of other Coffees as previously mentioned and cost effective so that is where my vote has gone.

You can't actually order a coffee in Costa which bugs the hell out of me- it has to be an Americano.

Starbucks/ Coffee Republic are overpriced. The nice thing with Starbucks is that they do offer different flavoured coffees that change from week to week.

I don't agree with the statement that Starbucks is the same in dollars (Canada) as in pounds (UK) , although it is better value and the cost has got alot closer with current exchange rates. Also the size of the cups does definately differ with bigger sizes in North America.

I have not drunk McDonald's coffee but they are largely responsible for the Starbucks slowdown.

The best coffee of all for me is places that have Lavazza coffee machines...mmmmmmm.....
