Tim Hortons CEO a doofus or what?

So we have all seen the changes coming to the TFW program which some Tim Hortons stores have relied heavily on. So today he makes a statement. I found this part highly amusing

The loss of foreign workers will compound shortages of Canadians available to work in some regions to make problems such as slow and incorrect orders even worse, Chief Executive Officer Marc Caira said in an interview in Ottawa Thursday.

FFS how hard is it to screw up a large double double and especially if the server is no longer a TFW

At the 2 locally the screw ups seem to stem from employees not speaking and understanding English fluently.

I rarely go to one, so not a big deal for me, but the local stores are heavily dependent on TFW's its clear as day, they just don't want to pay more.

Funny how McDonalds and other service companies who are paying 12-13/hr can find locals, but at 10.25 the wage is too low for the local market. Heck even Wally mart pays more.

Anyone who drinks that crap deserves what they get, IMO.

this :goodpost:

If I'm feeling kind and doing a Timmies run at work ( don't drink the stuff myself), I have to write down the orders because I don't speak Timmies and the Timmies staff don't speak English

I don't think I have ever experienced my order being wrong at Timmies.. but I am not sure that our dozen local Timmies rely on TFW. Will be interesting to see when they start publishing the list of who does.

I second that. I have been in Canada for about a year and I never stopped wondering how have they survived for so long as a business with the kind of tasteless crap they sell at the corner of every single street.

Is it possible that in addition to the TFW programme "reforms" one should simply admit that Timmies'r Fuc**** Wankers?

Tim Horton's is a really screwed up company that probably doesn't treat its foreign workers well. That's why I never applied to any for jobs. OK, I had applied to some but pulled my applications after discovering some indicators of serious organized abuse of TFWs at their establishments. Yes, I do background checks on all places I apply to for jobs and I have my ways of finding out who's guilty of what. Of all the places I've busted (and subsequently cancelled my applications for), a disproportionate amount of them were Tim Horton's establishments and I actually have some reason to believe that this abuse goes beyond the individual franchise level.

The timbits are really good as long as you don't get the completely hollow ones.

Same reason as people in England drink instant coffee - they just don't know any better.

I gave up on Tims. None fresh product, shoddy service, and food workers smoking next to the doorway. Hot chocolates a joke, as the powder does not always drop.
