Watch out, you lovers of cheap flights. Things are not looking terribly rosy.

Probably isn't good for those who have already booked on them!

What will finish them off is the wonderful way SKY News are treating it. I believe this started off because they applied to their banks for an additional loan. That's because it seems many companies of this type increase their loan at this period of the year as revenue drops. In fact, Thomas Cooks loan level now is less than it was this time last year.

However SKY seem to be sending the message that the end is nigh and nothing can be done! So the revenue will now plummet as no one will book with them and they will be stuffed.

According to Sky they are still forecast to make a profit of £191m, so they are unlikely to disappear totally. They may be seen as a takeover target though or go bust to lose their debt then be sold on. I think the banks will support them though, they can't afford to lose the £900m they owe

Didn't the Air Transat flight had to do an emergency return to Vancouver due to engine trouble the other day? This seems to be getting more and more common, the last 2 West Jet flights we used to Mexico and Maui were delayed due to mechanical problems this year. We have to book a flight back to the UK next spring and really dont know who to fly with. Even BA have had their recent issues from vancouver:confused:

My Mum was on that flight and it was a bit of a mare, delays, two take offs, one emergency landing, then hours hanging about, 2 hours sleep, then more delays, got home 24 hours later than expected. We flew with Thomas Cook (through Canadian Affairs) to get here and had no problems at all, my son also flew with them in Aug and also had no problems so I would pick them over Airtransit if I had the choice any-day.

Virgin are flying to Van from the new year I believe be good to see how they do and if the prices are reasonable :fingerscrossed:
