You are responsible for keeping your address updated with CIC should they wish to contact you for any reason before you become a citizen but plenty don't and I have never heard of IRCC doing anything about it. Any problems with the obligations of the sponsorship agreement and it is the sponsors obligation as they sponsored you then if the problem is with them then CIC take it up with them. Perhaps a free 15 minute consultation that a lot of lawyers provide might be needed.

I do have one quick question however, if anyone can input....

Do I have any legal obligation to provide my ex spouse my current address if she was my sponsor and is still under the obligations of the sponsorship agreement? She is pressuring me to give her it, citing that she may need it "if asked by immigration". But I cannot see any benefit to her having it, and a LOT of downsides to providing an abusive and aggressive ex my current residence, considering I left out of fear. Is there any reasonable cause for her to have my address? Or does it simply sound like another method of manipulation.

Kind regards
CRAY
No, you don’t need to tell her (and from the sounds of it you shouldn’t).

As long as CIC know where you are, that’s all that matters.

Good for you for getting things started Cray, I know how much mental energy that takes! Just wanted to wish you all the best and to remind you, there's always a friendly ear (eye?) on BE when you want a chat. Take good care of yourself.

1. No, CIC doesn't care what your address is, once you are a PR and don't have any pending applications.

I was hesitant to put that so chose citizen instead on the assumed basis that not all PR's will apply for citizenship or even renew a PR card if no intention of leaving Canada or get into trouble with CBSA and be the subject of an Admissibility Hearing.
