Teaching in Nova Scotia
 

Hi, we're a family of four planning to begin the immigration process when we've sold our house. Both are British teachers and wondered what the job market is like in NS, private or public elementary. We really like the look of NS so hope we'll both get jobs.

Hi guys,
we are hopefully off to NS later this year and an eventual goal is to have Mrs Crispie teaching aswell. Maths, French and Science are the subjects most in demand but in the longer term demographics will most likely create a more general shortage of teachers (they're getting old). English and Social Studies are over supplied at the moment. We visited several schools and were very impressed by them. In the Annapolis Valley the Senior High Schools are state of the art and full of happy students and teachers.
Private schools may take your british qualifications but the state schools will need a bridging certificate.As with most employment they allways prefer Canadian qualifications and experience so be prepared to start down the ladder! Oh yeh! This may be a shock but you don't get paid in the 10 week summer holidays :eek:

This may all sound off putting but we are so excited about moving to Nova Scotia with our 4 Crispettes :)

Thanks, oh ,my God no summer pay, shit! We're both primary teachers so I don't know how lucky we're goona be on the job front frankly, but we will pursue it.
