My husband just called them to see how long they think it'll take and they said for first time returns it'll take 16 weeks!

I'm getting the impression from the news they've got some new anti-fraud measures which are delaying things, I think I'll call them and find out.

Or possibly it's the wonderful new Schedule 1A that is making things worse. Or both.

So they've assessed my return. I filed as an emigrant having left at end of September, obviously pro-rating my personal allowance to match the number of days I was in Canada for 2014.

Question is, why would they adjust my personal allowance to be the full year allowance rather than pro-rated in my notice of assessment after already providing the necessary info regarding leaving dates?! I mean the extra money in my refund is great but surely this can't be right?!

I just got my assessment and had the opposite.
I worked from the end of September, so only the last 1/4 of the year. I assumed that as I didn't hit the tax free allowance for the year that I would get all my tax back, but they pro-rata'ed it and I'm only getting back about 20% of what I thought I would get back. (and what Studiotax thought too):(
