tax return - or non-return more like
So prison break has just finished and that got me thinking about my tax return, simply, it hasn't returned!! I sent in in on April 20 and got details it was received but still no money. I did ring them up but they said they were still processing. Is there anyone else out there that hasn't received their tax back? I bet the bloody interest they pay will be like the banks crappy 0.1% when I eventually get anything.
Also, we owe the child tax credit people 5K, we want to pay it back but they haven't got a bloody clue either. They even sent us a new claim form, to CANADA!! AAaaahhh |

Same here. Total balls up, as it was last year. They can cope with non-residents it seems - no real complaints in previous years (although they issued me an unnecessary temp SIN without telling me, caused all sorts of chaos), and they can cope with residents, but for goodness sake don't try and combine both statuses in one tax year. It's too much for the poor souls. It was gone October until I got my refund last year, I don't suppose they'll square with me until 2007 this time round.
We have additional balls-ups in ours that no-one can explain - after paying us CCTB they demanded it all back a month or so later and told me that my son was no longer in our care, which was interesting news to me; and this year it seems we all left Canada in 2004 (despite not arriving until 2005) and can they have all the CCTV money back again. Now. I thought the Inland Revenue were bad, they ain't got nothing on these :D Good luck to us all! |

If you mail in a paper return, it takes ages. Do it online (efile) and you will probably have the money back within a month or so. Its easier too, and well worth the $20 Ufile charge to do it online.

I finally filed a couple of weeks ago, as I had to as a condition of my new mortgage. Turns out I'm owed around $600 somehow, which I don't really understand.
But, as a temporary resident, apparently I can never file electronically, it has to be paper, paper all the way. I was quoted a minimum of two months before I get my rebate... |

Re: tax return - or non-return more like
Funny, just got home from my newly hired accountant trying to sort out the last 2 years Canadian taxes (seeing as I now have my UK tax refunds) oh, and I filled the Canadian ones incorrectly! Yep, I am also still waiting for the tax details of my 2005 Canadian return which I sent mid-April (can't send it any sooner because 2 of my slips don't come in til mid-April).
Anyway, after my conversation with him 1/2 hour ago, it seems like the Canadian tax system is about the worst in the world!!! |

Well I got me tax back today, hhuuurraaayy. The downside is that it was $1600 lighter than I had claimed (or my accountant had claimed). Oh well, $900 is better than a kick in the meat and two veg and $13 interest! Pity, I had spent the $2500, in my head, on the house, I guess I am going to have to wait for that cinema room, bollox, need to replace some windows
