Tax Return Confusion

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying desperately to fill in my tax return for 2009 without having to fork out the cash to get someone to do it for me. What I'm confused by is foreign income, I'm on a BUNAC visa and moved here in September, therefore had 8 months working full time in the UK before I moved. Now I know I have to declare it but I'm not sure where. I tried using QuickTax but as soon as I entered foreign income there it decided me and my partner owe over $2000 which I just can't believe which as we were only working here for 2 1/2 months in 2009 seems absolutely ridiculous especially as the UK has a tax treaty with Canada.

I am sooooo totally confused with this, last time I was on BUNAC I don't remember even declaring foreign income (admittedly I had hardly any) so this all came as a bit of a shock and I can't find much help when I search online.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You don't.

You only declare income from the date you moved to Canada.

I know - everytime I see a tax related question I think "aw JBE is going to answer this beautifully whilst sitting amongst piles of tax returns at home" :)

Certainly one of, if not THE most helpful poster on here
