Tax
 
Hi Folks,
Help needed.About to fill in Canada tax form. In the Uk they said that I can choose which country I was taxed from Canada or UK Now Canada says that I will be taxed from the UK ???
Forgot to say I am retired.
Any help will be grateful.

You do not get to chose. The rules are set out in the Canada/UK tax treaty.

If you are resident in Canada then a pension you receive from the UK is taxed only in Canada. If you receive an annuity instead of, or as well as, a pension then the annuity is taxed at 10% in the UK and you make up the difference to Canadian tax levels when you file your Canadian return.

Meyers Norris Penny are nationwide otherwise. Most accountants should be able to do it.
