hello have just received all our papers so landing in october, we have now found a place to rent which will take our dog and now we have to book his flights.
he is 60kg and we are flying from toulouse france where we live, any usefully advice would be good, how do they cope with 8 hours flight.. boxes etc..:unsure:

There are several threads relating to shipping dogs from the UK and which companies to chose or have been recommended. Do a search like
Shipping dogs to Canada or something like that.
The dog being shipped to Quebec will not need a CAQ nor will it need to be bilingual;)

As you've already booked flights, it's too late to suggest the QM2 from England to NY, I suspect, but that's how we're going to bring our two dogs. The cost of the cruise for 2 plus 2 dogs is cheaper than flights and "cargo" for the dogs AND you get a nice holiday. Besides, our two would be heard yodelling from the depths of the plane all the way across the atlantic. We crated molly the first time we drove to Cornwall and she screamed the whole way.

I have a dog, but I expect him to be an ex-dog by the time we move permanently to France in 2 or 3 years. He's 13 now.

Irrespective of things canine, I think we'll go on the QE2. As you say, it's not that much more expensive than flying, you can take more or less unlimited amounts of luggage and have a nice holiday on the way.

I assume one of you was working at Airbus and now has an offer from Bombardier? Why else would you move from Toulouse to Quebec?

And you get the corny immigrant experience of seeing the Statue of Liberty as you sail into New York harbour. Not massively relevant, but some might enjoy it LOL

Here's a YouTube link for the accommodation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLzmI1bH-BM You can visit them twice a day, I think. They have their own evacuation drills (including doggy life jackets) and a dedicated Kennel Master.

Annoyingly, they don't take parrots, though, so I still haven't worked out what we're going to do about him. We have ages to go before it's an issue, though, and I have plenty more to worry about in the meantime!
