Stupid question on electrical goods
Hi,
I think this is a silly question, but am hoping deep down that I can keep my coffee machine! I have a Tassimo T20. Is it going to be useable in Canada or is it a complete no-go what the voltage? I guess in my head, I'm thinking it's a lower voltage so won't blow any motors or anything. But this is my stupid-trying-to-organise-international-move-again-head! We are planning our move for mid to end January...which should be a challenge for the cold. I'm sure the kids will be way pleased with us! :o Thanks folks! |
Re: Stupid question on electrical goods
What is the voltage setting? Does it say 110 - 220 volts? If it does it should be fine. If not and you still want to bring it, you will need a voltage converter. Here is a good site that I have used in the past. https://www.voltageconverters.ca/

Re: Stupid question on electrical goods
Our coffee machine was rubbish over here - nothing blew up but it took an hour to brew a pot - so that went straight into the basement
However - good news is that if you have GHD's they work normally out here with a travel converter! :D (that was a BIIIIG relief) |
Re: Stupid question on electrical goods
I paid around $70 for my transformer, it was hooked up to my UK TV and Xbox, never had any problems.

With a 1300 watt draw, your transformer is going to cost you 74.99 plus shipping for your T20. Since you can buy a T20 at Walmart for 78.77 http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/tassimo-...m-t20/10073242. what do you think the better option is? |
Re: Stupid question on electrical goods
What is the deal with those coffee machines. First, as Brits, tea is the prescribed choice. Second, if you want coffee you can either have instant or make some on a Bialetti (stove top espresso). No need for fancy machines.

Obvious in one sense, but the transformer can also be used for other items that may be 220 VAC. It's not limited to just one item only. The OP may have other 220VAC items. A new coffee machine running on 110 will still not help the other 220VAC items that may require power.
Somehow I can't see running around with a bulky transformer to power various 220V electrical items. The coffee maker in house is ready to go all the time. |

Um can't find any decent instant over here. My new machine keeps it hot for hours - much better than the one I had in the UK which even when the plate was on it didn't keep it really hot.:)

Coffee isn't my cup of tea.

As an aside I had a perculator in the UK but always made instant, here there is always a full pot of coffee on at any given time in the day, and running out of International Delight creamer is nearly as bad as running out of ciggies  A tassimo would explode with the amount of use it would get  |

, and running out of International Delight creamer is nearly as bad as running out of ciggies  fl:[/QUOTE] I love this dairy creamer stuff....weird, I don't even like coffee much, but I have a cup just to have this creamer. My husband thinks I am potty, and the list of not from nature ingredients leads me to belive I will shine like a beacon on dark nights. Nevertheless yum, yum, I have just put the kettle on! |
