Stop! Wait! No need to leave UK...

Today I got my Timmies fix of a double double and rainbow ring in WITHAM ESSEX!
Pulled into Spar for some gas and there was the Timmies sign...could not believe my eyes. Of course this is NOT good news for the pre-medical diet...:(

You're in trouble.

If you're heading to Westport, Ont the nearest Timmies are almost 30Km away in Perth according to

http://www.timhortons.com/locator/index.html

Get some addiction therapy.

It appears that SPAR Ireland has the UK rights to sell Tim Horton type products although the similarity to a real Timmies is a pale one.. As of 2007 there were over 50 outlets involved so no doubt there are many more now. It is a marvelous business model. Extremely successful. Not a Starbucks but that's a good thing. Starbucks are closing outlets and TH keeps opening more. If any Brits have $1million they should inquire about buying a franchise. It's a license to print money.

So, do you have $1million? Just curious, but how much for a coffee and donut?

I'm not sure it would work in the UK - for a start, the prices would be more expensive for sure and that's a big attraction to Timmies. Secondly, it's so ingrained in the Canadian psyche that it's almost automatic to go there - would take quite something to achieve that status in the UK...

Snap...my tasting in Witham was no substitute, it was all to brief a 'Canada fix' and it did nothing to fill the longing to be standing on my lot in Westport!

Yup! You're an addict. If you go to the one in Gan then you're probably a gambling addict too.

But I have 2 minimum criteria when driving through small town Ontario to determine their level of civilization. They should have

1) A Legion (for beer)

2 A timmies (for all kinds of stuff especially donuts, chili & icecap in the summer).

Maybe good advice for those on a reccie trip !
