Hi. Children are between 16 to 6 yrs old. I need to attain low beginner score in the tefaq test but there is no school in Birmingham. The consultants say that is pretty straight forward but I am not so sure. Quebec is a route in and I have my in laws in Montreal.
But as christmasoompa has repeatedly pointed out, that's a fairly silly route if you don't already speak french. You know that the quotas reset on July 1st? |

Go to a meeting. Meet people. Arrange private tuition. |

Is your wife/husband Canadian? If so, s/he could probably sponsor you? |
Re: Starting the journey
Unfortunately not. My wife's parents emigrated 12 years ago and are now Canadian citizens. I have approached my HR dept at work and asked whether they could send my cv to sister companies in Canada. I will try to explore this avenue as well. There are sites in both Ontario and Quebec although recruitment has been limited of late.

Can anyone recommend Michael Thomas for French learning?
Of course, that's French not Quebecois. |

Re: Starting the journey
Thanks for the link which I have read. I would prefer to apply for permanent residence from the outset so that children are entitled to schooling etc from the moment they arrive. I understand I need an AEO and this can take a while, again I am planning for two year process however would like the application to be submitted ASAP. Does the AEO process also apply to Quebec? I have read somewhere that it is different but did not say how

You do know that children of TWP holders can also attend school? You don't need PR for that. :) |
Re: Starting the journey
Definitely no AEO needed for Quebec, although having one does give you more points.
We got our CSQ with no offer of employment, and now waiting for COPR which hopefully will arrive in the next 2 to 3 weeks, making whole process about 16 months, and that's with not getting all things done that quickly on our side, so could have been quicker. However I understand that more and more people are trying the Quebec route thereby building a backlog - processing times for CSQ had definitely increased last time I looked, so have the fees  |
Re: Starting the journey
As per my earlier threads I am a couple of points off the required score for the first stage. I will not be able to get my French upto a1/a2 standard by the time I turn 40. However there are 10 points allocated for arranged employment so consider this to be a good option. Hoping my current employer can help me arrange something with sister company in Quebec. Pratt and whitney for those familiar with aerospace companies. Have a meeting tomorrow with hr to discuss my exact requirements. That said I will say I am looking for pr
