Spring Has Sprung

Spring has sprung .......the grass has riz ''AND I KNOW WHERE ALL THE BUGGIES IS''
In my bloody garden.............. On this beautiful island i walk around my large garden as i admire the view its feeding time.........Black fly ....Deer Fly...Hornets.........green bugs... black bugs....and guess whats on their menu ? Yip you guessed it ...ME eeekkkkkkkk
Now iam told by some islanders black fly dont bite''........well i have news for them if its fine scottish blood for lunch ''They Do and i have the lumps to prove it.
Most of the homes here have pretty porches where one is supposed to sit and relax with a cold beer.Hmmmm perhaps the bugs enjoy a nice beer in the evenings the alcohol sucked out of my blood........Ah an idea what if i should pop a few Valium and when they have sucked their fill bet the doped little sods to death with my empty beer bottle.
Apart from that .........life on PEI is ''great'' warm sunshine great food beeches to die for .Now if i could only solve the summer bug problem ...life would be perfect...Hi to all you guys still waiting .......hang in there its well worth it. Best wishes to you all..keep in touch. VI.

You are about 4-6 weeks ahead of the East. Spring is a drawn out affair in these parts........

At Chez AX spring is seeing work proceeding apace at creating a lawn out of grey rock and fill. Stage 1 illustrated. Last couple of days the flies have come out with a vengance. The guys today were getting eaten alive!

One of the cosmetic-brand body oils works a treat at keeping mozzies off. I can't remember what it's called though. Not very helpful. Sorry.

Absorbine keeps everything off and one spraying lasts for five days. It's probably better to have any children you may want before using it though.

My wife tells me it's Avon cosmetic's 'Skin so-soft'. We used it in Glencoe and it seemed to work. You do smell a tad like a Tart's handbag so it's not for those of a macho-mindedness. :p

I have read articles that say that squaddies use it. Bet the smell really scares the terrorists off in the middle east? :D

That's the one. I remember now. I have seen soldiers use it. Admittedly they were my wife and brother in law, and they were gardening, but they're still soldiers. :)

Friends of ours has one of those vac things....we love to go and sit on their deck! It works a treat, and we are in the middle of the woods! It collects everything from the dreaded black fly to mossies and bees and alsorts of flying insects.
I think if you are going to be out in the great out doors and there are lots of bugs about don't use smelly soaps and shampoos...it seems the bugs love the scents!

Do you issue them with uniforms and shout (well-minded) commands at them as they hoe the rock garden and prune the bushes? ;)
