Sod's Law

My wife has for some time been looking to change career and is after a job in government. Such jobs are hard to come by if you're not already in the loop. She's had no success. Then yesterday, we had a call inviting her for a written test next week. Today, we had another call, from a different bit of government, also inviting her in next week. Excellent!

Except that on Saturday I had to rush her to hospital when she developed an infection following surgery early last week. She's still there, being drip fed morphine, antibiotics strong enough to strip paint and heaven knows what else. She ain't going nowhere anytime soon.

Typical. Just bleedin' typical.

A few days perhaps. She was looking at being hors de combat for at least a month even before this cropped up.

I don't like this idea of getting people out of hospital as quickly as possible after an operation because "it's better for them". Nor do any of the nurses I have spoken with. If she'd been kept in for a couple of days, the signs of infection would have been spotted early and nipped in the bud. As it is, they're still not sure what's wrong with her. Mercifully it's not an abscess (CT scan showed that), nor is it peritonitis.

I am annoyed with the hospital and starting to get quite vocal about it. The military liaison nurse who came to visit her yesterday learned some new words.

Not so you'd notice. Then again, being Quebecoise, there is a good chance she's got a bit of Irish in her (to go with the hint of wagon-burner).

Well mate I really hope she's on the recovery. Good to hear its not peritonitis or abcess!
Keep teaching the nursing staff etc the new words and Hope it turns out right in the end! (Jobwise too I mean).

Cheers mate. I didn't know what peritonitis was so I googled it and then wished I hadn't.

I'm about to head down to Ottawa General to see her so it's now up to you to wind up Willmore by yourself.

Key words/phrases: Hayley, Hamburger Helper, rather butch

That should do until I get back.
