That happens a lot in Brampton, in this neighbourhood people have been sitting in their garages all summer with the big door open, lawnchairs and sofas are grouped together around a tv or radio, or they are just chatting while the children play. You can see fridges and freezers and laundry machines too.

I'm just waiting to see if it carries on into the winter!

No, I mean really converting it. One of my former neighbours bricked up the front of his townhouse garage and extended his family room into it, finished and everything. You'd never know from looking at the place. The door was left there for show.

This is what I meant as well, where we are the garage door is often replaced by some form of patio doors though some are just bricked up.

A bloke up the road from me has just done the patio door thing. Looks a bit odd, I have to say.

I think it depends on the site. If the driveway slopes down so the garage is clearly in the basement then, yes, it looks weird. There are some townhouses though on one of the roads between Kingston Road and Queen where the front garden is long and slopes away from the houses, in that case the converted garage looks more sensible than the unconverted one next door.

This house is one of the type that has the garage stuck on the front. The saving grace is that the garage has a pitched roof that mirrors the real one. It makes the conversion slightly less obvious.

It's a foul day here today. It's been snowing lightly for a few hours. It doesn't look like much but apparently there is carnage on the roads. It took my missus 80 minutes to get to work; it's usually 15.

There's a little snow here, not enough to be a problem but we were late getting up and the cooking school has a strict "gonna be late, don't bother coming" policy so when last seen otraynor was spending her Thanksgiving alone in bed. Well, as alone as one can be with a dog and a cat in the bed.

It's not quite as technical as that here in Brampton, just using the garage as an extra living room or indoor patio.

Here are two photos of the snow today (if I attach them correctly) - looks lovely but driving has been a challenge... I haven't driven in Canadian snow for 10 years!

My parents just called and told me that they are having so much snow in KW that they cant see across the street and the plows havent started yet and they are going out for the evening!

No photos seem to be appearing - why not post them in photopost?

I've just put one of the photos in the gallery. But that was a few hours ago. We've had a lot more snow since then...
