Get a Nissan Cube - tons of room, good on gas, CVT tranny.

Be prepared for lots of stares and "oh, isn't that cute"

Hardly a SUV though and smaller than those vehicles listed. We have a Kia Soul which is a similar & better looking thing. It's been roomy enough for a family of 3 but now we're 4 it's getting a bit small. When the lease is up next year, it'll be replaced by something bigger.

Might as well throw in the Honda Elephant then (Element).

We will test drive them and i suspect it will be AWD CRV.

We have had a grand cheroke limited, good car 5.somthing engine V8, fast. Petrol was cheap in Kuwait and i could afford to run it.

Hope i haven't inspired some to re-mortgage for a new car. Thanks for the input, I look forward to reading more posts if you continue on this thread. Cheers.

Well I'd be obliged to put in vote for an escape
I have had a 2001 4wd escape for 8 yrs now, no real issues other than a bit of rust around the rear wheel arches, still going well and mechanically sound

probably run it until something big (read expensive) breaks

I drove one quite a bit including across the country (America). The good thing was the vast interior size.

just looked at the new fords on the ford.ca site, do you think the new explorer looks like a Range Rover?

Yep.. bit of a ringer for the old Range Rover style, add in the (decent) third row seats it stands a good chance of being popular..

looked at that recently as a possible for the family mover (requirement was could take two mums each with two kids)..

Way, way more room in a Cube. The Cube has more room than the Honda CRV - I've been in both. The Honda Element is similar

Better looking!!!

The Cube isn't for everyone as it truly is a tin box on wheels or like driving a fishbowl but it's cheap, good on gas, has great visibility and my teenage daughter loves it as it has huge style points.

I rather like cars myself. In fact, I don't think I like anything inanimate, except shoes, more. Really though, SUV, minivan, things one must have, not fun things, not interesting things, choosing one is like choosing between pairs of grey trousers. Can you people really not find anything interesting or nice to drive?
