Small electrical items and TVs???
 

Is it worth taking small elesctrical items such as kettle, toaster, iron etc? (as will need adaptor plug)

And what about TVs??

AFAIK telly won't work there its a different signal but check with your tellys manual. Kettle etc, hmm I'm not bothering, but my stuff will take weeks to ship so we will probs just get new, need my cuppa!
Remember tho they don't have Argos and I haven't found anything comparable yet, maybe someone can comment.

Things like kettle, toaster, hairdryer etc won't just need an adapter - they will need a voltage converter. Given the price of these, I would suggest that no, its not worth taking them - even if the kettle is double or three times the price in Canada (unless you have a £100 + kettle!) :rofl:

TV's - theres a wiki article on these.

We have left all ours - kettle (as the previous response said - can't wait for stuff to arrive for a cuppa!), toaster, george forman, tv, stereo etc ... we will get new on arrival. My tools are coming - but a step down voltage converter has been purchased for them ... ebay is a wonderful place! :thumbup:

after been told our telly would not work in Canada, we took it just for the Boys x-box, after a year we moved house , and the rodgers guys was pluging in the new cable box , I said "don't plug in that TV it is form the uk it won't work" what ? took him two minuets and one adapter and our uk tv works in canada ........... you will need a transformer pick ours up for $25

Generally, small appliances start very cheap here.

Two issues with the TV: signal and voltage. Does the TV work with an NTSC signal? It used to be really hard to find TVs that were compatible with both PAL and NTSC in the UK but I guess it is probably a lot more common these days.

If the TV will accept NTSC then is it dual voltage? If not, you will need a transformer.
