Small Cars in Canada
Hey everyone. I am currently looking at super mini cars and live in the Mississauga area. I am not really sure of all my choices here. I have spotted Golfs and Toyota Yaris. I used to drive a Renault Clio in London and prefer the smaller cars. If anyone has any suggestions, would love to hear from you. The Golf is looking a top choice at the moment but still keeping my options open.

The Honda Fit is a good choice. Remember that VWs in North America are built in Mexico so you don't get the reliability and build quality you are used to in Europe.

We have a Kia Soul which we are impressed with. The European Ford Fiesta has just gone on sale in Canada as well. Might be worth a look.

I'm really digging the look of the new Ford Fiesta, haven't driven one though.

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo 5 as my commuting vehicle. It's a 1.6 litre engine, does about 40mpg and costs $35 to fill up.

I love the Fiat 500 - Went to the Uk motor launch in Lundun Taahn - they put one in a pod on the EYE!

Wife loves her Fiat 500. I have to say that for a 1.2 its quick off the mark. Lots of room for me as well being 6 foot 3'. I don't think the 1.2 POP is available in Canada, the smallest engine being the 1.4 which I can imagine is even nippier.

I cannot say more about the joy of the Fiat 500 - small, sexy and nippy (everything I'd LIKE to be). Six gears and an engine with attitude - I have the 100 hp sport model. I love this car. Also you can have so many colour variations, trims and interiors. I asked about whether I could import mine (NO! I know the answer is NO!) as I love her so much. I will definietly be buying another in Canada - my only worry being that I'm not so sure about Mexican assembly, but that would be my only doubt. It is an outstanding car!

A concern with Fiat, or any other off-beat brand in Canada, is getting it serviced. My VW, for example, currently has three winter tyres and one summer one, pending the importation of the gadget that fits between the wheelbrace and the wheel bolts. Any part takes multiple days to obtain. I imagine a Fiat would be even more difficult to keep runnning than a VW.
