Singapore vs Canada
 

Hi group

After a long wait of 1 year Singapore, I have been offered a job in Toronto and I am planning to take it and move for good. Before I can do that I just have a quick question, I have been offered a salary that is numerically equal to what I am making right now in Singapore $$ i.e SGD X = CAD X. Can those people familiar with both the countries pls tell me if I will be able to afford the same quality of life in Toronto as I have in Singapore now(I am aware that you all dont know my current quality of life, but just comparing the salary, can you pls give me an idea). Just to give you an idea, the income tax I am paying right now is max 8-10% and the GST is 5%.

There is a yahoo group, ok based in Vancouver not Toronto, but there are a fair few Singaporeans on it (including 3 of the 5 moderators!!) and some are bound to have experienced life in Toronto too. I would recommend you ask them ....
