signing out

it is with a heavy heart i give up the move ,we had notification last week that we could have the passports stamped.

unfortunately we need to sell our home before going, also i have son who needs to choose university by mid august.

if we had this news in June it could have happened

after 2 years of waiting it is ironic we have been beaten by a few weeks

thanks to all who have answered questions for us,and good luck with your own plans

oh no... there must be something you can do - could your son go to uni in Canada? Shame to wait so long and then not do it! :(

That's a shame, why couldn't your son just go to Uni of his choice in the UK, you rent your home until it sells and move to Canada?

Just a thought, good luck

Why can't you at least land and keep your options open? I don't get it...

Re: signing out

Yep, another one dittoing what Biiiink said!!

I don't understand why you'd decide to emigrate to Canada, go through the hassle of it all, spend the money on it, etc, and then just not bother!

COME ON! Listen I know this may not mean anything to you... but there are many many people wishing to have your chance!

After so much input you should not give up just like that... It really doesn't make any sense... there are many who did not sell their house yet but are working on it... Your son's education is important but I am sure something can be worked out...

Bliiiink said it best... LAND AND KEEP YOUR OPTIONS OPEN...

Good luck with everything :o

Hi edinburgh,

I'm with most of the others that have responded to your post. Maybe I'm missing the point or the scale of the problem but if a chance to try out Canada is what you really want then these don't feel like insurmoutable difficulties. Indeed, you will face many more problems along the way with arranging the move and settling in over here and will need a little fortitude, determination and sometimes a bit of creativity to work around them. Biiink's advice is excellent in creating space for you to work through your next steps - and you know you can always rely on the support of the BE community to chip in with suggestions to help you when you feel like you are stuck.

Best wishes,

Eamonn.

But how have you been beaten by 2 weeks? what happened in those two weeks that was so drastic you cant go. Surely your son has always been going to University ? he must have planned this at least a year ago? As allthe others have said why not just "land" and keep your options open, maybe your son can stay in the UK and follow out when he has finished Uni,
Theres not many of us can sell our house atthe moment - we wanted to sell ours as have LOADS on here I have spoken to. We have now decided we will have to rent out until the market picks up and take it from there

Seems a LOT to go through just to " give up"

Re: signing out

Maybe it's just a case of cold feet, now that it can happen looking for any reason to not do it...

I can't believe anyone would be crazy enough to make a life decision like uprooting their family and entire lives to another continent to then turn round and say oh it didn't happen two weeks ago can't possibly occur now...
