Hi Guys,

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply.

An update since the last post and it's all been happening here and without me having to say anything.

An electrician has fixed the oven and installed an extractor hood. We've stocked up on the missing essentials with the theory that we will need the extra things to equip the basement in our new house.

A carpenter has fitted a door at the top of the stairs which, although doesn't lock does give us a lot more privacy and noise reduction.

I think the novelty of having people in the basement has worn off and we haven't seen the kids recently.

The landlady realises that the basement can be a bit cold in the evening but with the warmer weather coming and a cosy fleece blanket to snuggle up under I think we'll last the 45 days!

Maybe they were just not as well prepared for you as they should have been. Sounds like they're on the ball now though.

I'd still like a lockable door on my accommodation though:sneaky:

Where do you go after there, have you bought a house? Or got a nice rental? Bet you can't wait to get your own place again.

Glad its getting sorted. I sure wouldn't want someone else's kids wandering willy nilly through my accommodation. Trouble is that its often very hard to say anything without the other person getting all defensive. Believe me, I've been there. Thought I was being nice and diplomatic but when a person realizes that are wrong, often the only thing they can think of doing is getting defensive about it.

Good job you didn't have to do anything much.
