Shippng to Canada
Hi all,
Finally got my visa for Canada after 2 years of trying. Now it's time to move. Has anyone used 'movecorp' for shipping? I've searched all the threads but can't seem to find any information. Thanks in advance Monty |
Re: Shippng to Canada
Congrats on the visa :).
A quick google using "[the company name] + reviews" brings up very mixed opinions... |

Congrats also!
You may want to read some of the review on BE as well. http://britishexpats.com/forum/searc...archid=8130261 :) |

Re: Shippng to Canada
Anyone done a move from South Wales to Ottawa recently ?
Or from anywhere in Wales who would recommend a firm to consider. |
Re: Shippng to Canada
This thread is a few months old, it's usually best not to bump old threads. However, there are multiple threads on the board about shipping, including another on the first or second page right now, please use the search function to find them and you will find buckets of companies who are both recommended and not recommended. The same handful of names come up every time.

Re: Shippng to Canada
Many thanks for that information. Will check them out.

Re: Shippng to Canada
After couple of months of discussions and research with few shipping companies I decided to go with Air Canda cargo. Sea shippments rates for about 50 cubic foot of stuff would cost 600-800 pounds plus insurance so all in total almost £1k. The same as cargo (120 kg) with insurance will cost me no more than £350 + 1 day delivery + no washing, no ironing after potential 6-8 weeks of shared container travel with international removal companies. So if you only take your clothes, shoes, books that's the best option. I live in London so easy to take a cab and deliver all to Heathrow cargo terminal And so much less to pay overall of course

50 Cubic feet in dimensional weight is something like 520lbs (236kg) https://www.aircanada.com/cargo/en/tools/calc.pdf |

You have checked the dimensional weight on this? Air freight does not use flat weight, the volume makes a big difference to the cost.

NOw that makes sense. But thank you for sharing and for the formula so I will def use it when packing my kilos. |
