Shipping personal items, but didnt report at time of arrival...

Hi,,, bit of advice required,,,
basically wanting to ship items from uk - clothes , records cds etc ,however been pr for 10+ years, and the items were never mentioned in goods to follow paperwork...
the options of the br4 form dont appear relevant really, as the 'settler' 9807.00.00 option states that i am entering canada for the first time,,,, and mentions items needing to be reported by the settler at thevtime of arrival
Unfortunately this is not the case and the other 3 options don't apply either!

if you have any thoughts, please let us know!
thanks!

How much is this stuff worth? If its stuff that is old ie 10 years plus just declare it as used clothing etc etc and send it via parcel post. You may have to pay taxes or it just sails through. Wont qualify as goods to follow as you never declared them as goods to follow. Think paying about $13 on every hundred so if worth $500 then you would only be paying $65 which is probably cheaper than replacement cost.

hi, thanks for the reply

i guess a couple of thousand maybe if you add up some of the price of the equipment, record and cds clothes books etc - quite a few! Declaring as you say and paying seems like the option given didnt declare as goods to follow, and as you say, cheaper than replacenent cost
However, prob going to have to use shipping company - parcel post not really an option for a few big old tea chests full. '1st move international', for example suggest b4 b4a declaration forms, and which dont give relevant options,! What customs forms are required if not those?

thanks again

I would just have an inventory list done up box 1 used clothes value 200 quid, box 2 compact discs value X amount etc etc. Send the goods however you want to. If you still have your original landing form send the shipper a copy so they can send it with the Customs declaration. When going to clear the goods with Customs take the original landing document and in your best snivelling accent explain that these are all used goods and you have lost your original goods list.

CAVEAT: You should only do this if the goods are used and originally yours especially if Customs decide to examine the boxes and really have no value apart from replacement value. Worst case scenario you end up paying for them.
