Default Shipping a guitar/ukulele from the UK>Canada

Hello All

I have been in Canada over a year and am hoping to start shipping over some of my belongings that I left behind. At the top of that list is my ukulele and guitar.

Anyone had any experience with this/recommend the best way to get them over?

Cheers

I put my (acoustic) guitar in a hard case and brought it over with me. My uke I believe I packed up in the middle of my suitcase surrounded by soft stuff. My parents brought my viola over with them, in its hard case (and didn't even have to pay for it )

Looking at the state of the luggage that flew over on the plane with me vs. the luggage that got flown over independently (including my drum kit), I would recommend taking anything vaguely fragile on the same flight as you. Even in the hold, it is going to take less of a bashing than if it is getting taken as freight.

Tiny Tim? Why, did he ship an acoustic guitar to Canada too? Lying little bastard was pretending to be a cripple all this time for the income support, then he goes off and spends it moving to Canada with his indy band

That's the only reason I opened the thread.

I was going to ask if the OP was a widow cleaner.

Ooops......

If you haven't already, buy yourself a hardcase that is of good quality. My parents own a music shop and have been selling Hiscox cases for years. They're made in the same town as where I'm from, and are recognised world wide as the best case. They're about £89 but definitely worth it. (ESP use them for example, and brand them).
