Hi All,
We are just starting the sponsor immigration process for myself to get out to winnipeg but we are trying to get a rough idea of prices for shipping our stuff to winnipeg. Does anyone recommend a particular company? Ideas of cost for half/whole containers. Any info would be great!!

We moved to Manitoba 2 years ago from York. Our 20ft container cost around 5000 GBP. We used GB Lines for the move. They wrapped and packed our goods. They were excellent. Hope this helps.

We put our goods in storage with GB for a couple of months before we called it forward. Can't remember how long exactly but I do remember it wasn't long and we were kept updated every step of the way e.g. it was in Liverpool, it was loaded on the ship, ship had arrived etc.

There are many threads on shipping goods from the UK to Canada - if you use the search function you will be able to find lots of recommendations (and some they suggest you steer clear of).

We have just moved to Brandon, 220km west of Winnipeg, we went with Whites, all in £5050 for a 20 ft. This includes full pack and unpack & Handling charge for the UK unload to storage and re load when we call for it to be shipped. Whites were the best quote by far.

First month storage free, £120 a month thereafter. Pack up was excellent.

if you're going straight door-door you're probably looking at about 2 - 3 weeks transit time plus time to customs clear and transport to your new property, so to be on the safe side we usually advise expecting to be without your things for 4-6 weeks. Hope that helps?

Hi James, not as yet.. We are probably not going until next summer now. My brother moved out to Ontario and started looking into firms about 3 months prior to leaving. When are you going?
Good to see some other mad fool is moving to Winterpeg!!

Just waiting on my LMO but have a start date of the 6th January (but more likely to be 6th Feb). I have a 14mnt and 6 week old soon in a very similar situation. I am just waiting on a quote from White & Co as there name keeps cropping up.

I went out to Winnipeg in October and really liked what it could offer me and my family. I constantly have my weather app on Winnipeg and it's cold but looking forward to it

Winnipeg is a great city for families. My partner is from Winnipeg and we spend every summer out there as we both teach. If you want any info on it we have lots of friends and family there.

We moved out from UK (Northamptonshire) to Winnipeg in August 2013. We had a dedicated 40ft container. We did the entire move through PSS International. They packed, loaded, transported and then used their local contacts Globe in Winnipeg to bring the container to the house in Winnipeg, unload and unpack.

It took 3 weeks door to door. The entire process was seamless and totally painless.

We shipped pretty much everything we had, luckily ignoring the advice to sell everything and start again when we go here!
