shipping
Hi can anyone tell me if they have used a company by the name of AAA Overseas Freight Corportation. They are based on Etobicoke, Toronto. They do self loading containers as well as full service, and have come in a lot cheaper than other companies. We are going for a 40ft container as we are taking our car with us, they will secure the car into container, build a dividing wall for the rest of our stuff, and for a little extra will load and secure the rest of our belongings. All this for $4500 Port to Port. They are paid in US dollars, so don't know if its cheaper because of this, Would appreciate if anyone else knows anything about the company, or tell me how to do a little research ourselves Thanks:thumbup:

no we packed our own stuff, they will deliver a container to your door and you load it yourself, but because we are taking our car and our stuff is stored close to Niagara, we are bringing our stuff to their warehouse where the container will we ready, the secure the car, have built a dividing wall for the rest of our household belongings (which we then load ourselves or pay them to do it at an extra cost) and they ship to the port you wish to go too, you then have to organise the removal from the port to your home. In our case for the 40FT container with all the above included except the loading it came to $4400 US. the cheapest competitive price I got for 40 ft was over $7000, hope this helps

I think the thing you need to watch out for are some of the hidden costs. If you have a door to door quote then try and compare it to the info you have from AAA Overseas Freight Corporation. Sounds like you do have additional costs like taking the stuff to AAA Overseas Freight Corporation. Try and find out what some of those costs are e.g. what happens when shipment reaches destination; what will it cost to ship it to your residence. Ask AAA Overseas Freight Corportation if customs clearance at origin and at destination are included; also find out if terminal handling charges at origin and at destination are included. Those can often be expensive. You may find that once you have added all of those prices in that it may be comparable to a door to door service. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much, went today to see the agent, and he advised me we only needed a 20ft container not a 40ft. here is the deal so far, we have to bring our car and belongings to the depot where the container is , we load the container and they secure the car, they build a wall between the car and goods, and then ship it to our port. we have to clear customs and arrange an agent from port to house, so they are going to get me all the figures basically from port to house , so waiting to see how that pans out. will definately keep you informed of final cost, as I am curious too. Have to say I was very impressed by the agent, he works from home but has offices and is well advertised on web, also checked BBB and not problems, so hopefully all will be well. Cheers Denise:fingerscrossed:
