Selling UK Car when in Canada

Selling UK Car when in Canada
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has been in my situation and knows how it works...
I accidentally packed the V5C for our car, so we weren't able to sell it before we left the UK for Canada. The car has been left with my brother in law, for him to hopefully sell for us. I've requested and now received a replacement V5C in order to sell the car, which I'm planning to send to my brother in law.
The form needs my signature though to initiate the change in documents, and I know its requested by the buyer... do I just sign it now, and he adds the date when he finds a buyer? should I ask him to sign on my behalf?
Is what I'm trying to do possible, or does anyone who has done this before have any advice to offer?

Make him your Power of Attorney with an end date, provided you trust him implicitly

My brother just sold our car and a van of mine without me being there. Guess he signed whatever was necessary.
