Seeking 19-20+

Hi Guys no this isnt a request for a date thread...

My daughter is heading over to Toronto ahead of us to live in Sept and as you can all guess I am worried sick.
I was wondering if anyone had kids around the 19 + mark or if you knew anyone that is of that age that would be willing to email her or help her out with her transition over there.
She is 21 and I appreciate she isnt a child but it would be great if someone could show her around or introduce her to other people..

We will be living in the Danforth area for a while.

Also what are the prospects of employment for her over there. She is talking to about going back to Uni or to follow up on her education so wants to get a part time bar/retail job. Any info on that would be great also.

Thanks in advance for any help offered...

I looked into bar work for this summer - officially it looks like many of these places will look for you to have something called SmartServe either before, or shortly after employing you. Basically a very short course with some pointers on mixing drinks and dealing with drunks.

https://smartserve.org/

They offer an online course but there was also a location right downtown (King St/Richmond St) that offered it. IIRC it lasted a couple of hours and cost less than $100.

Bar work is hard to get into over here, you have lots of professionals with years and years of experience around so as someone who doesn't have much experience it may be hard to get into it.

If she young, pretty and friendly she have no trouble finding bar or restaurant work. She could easily be host in a restaurant. It is much harder for a man in Canada to find that kind of employment. Most bars and Restaurants prefer to employ young 18-30 girls.

Am I the only one who finds that irritating - I'm getting bored of places where women who fancy themselves expect tips and attention without making an effort. Vancouver at least seems to be full of places like this.

Edo thanks for the compliment. I wish I had of had a mum like me too ha ha:lol:

She is pretty, well I am going to say that arent I.
She is very friendly and sociable but not flirty and giddy with it. She also is a very hard worker.
I think she is just wanting to be able to meet people and educate herself whilst she is doing it.

So anyone out there that would like to email her and get to know her then that would be great and for me too cos then I know she is going to some meet some really nice people
