secondhand boats in vancouver?
any boaters out there? just wondered what the cost of a used bayliner runabout (or equiv) would be? doesnt need to be massive, but it needs some grunt for waterskiing etc. and to comfortably hold 6 people or so. can anyone recommend a dealer or website for finding used boats?
i am a novice so what would be the approx running costs of a boat like that in terms of maintenance? i would look to keep it out of the water mostly, and tow it to a lake. where in the vancouver area is good for this kind of thing? what should i look out for when sizing up a boat secondhand? Chris http://www.canadatrader.com/boat/search.html For Ontario see http://www.trader.ca Dont know much about the practicalities of boating, but from the amount of grumbling I hear from my boating aquantainces about mooring fees, fuel and maintainence costs etc, I suspect that, rather like owning a cottage, it is far less hassle and more cost effective to just rent one on the occasions you feel the need to do it. thanks for the welcome!
nope, didn't know about those sites.. but that is perfect.. boats and cars taken care of in one hit! thanks Iain. :) In all honesty, i was hoping to be able to boat most weekends in the summer - its part of the lifestyle that appeals to me about Canada. I want to take the boatmanship course, learn how to maintain it myself - I guess its going to be an expensive hobby but that's all part of the fun of it! Then me and my partner will learn (or attempt to learn) how to waterski.. that will be a laugh! Is it the local lakes of vancouver where you are permitted to do this kinda stuff? |
