Superstore veggies are one step from compost from my shopping experiences.
Specialty veggie stores have better produce, or save on is not bad.
Costco is the place! More stuff than you ever knew you needed.

true. we get our veggies from Triple A or Red Apple on Hastings Louise. FYI. But everything else @ Superstore is fine imo.

Another good store is Donalds Market on Hastings. Loads of stuff you won't get anywhere else and cheap. It's just down the road from you so close. It has a lot of the same products as Urban Fare, Whole Foods, Capers but without the pricey tag. People come from all over to shop there.

We get all our meat, fish from Costco for the month and just about everything else from Superstore. I check the flyers each week for any offers and then if there's anything cheap at Sobeys or No Frills I'll pick it up as I'm passing.
Walmart is a most unpleasant shopping experience, nothing like Asda and certainly not cheap in price.
I only buy certain staple things when they are offer and then stock up, especially cheese, margarine, washing liquid. There is a huge variation in prices from one week to the next and you can save lots by keeping an eye on the offers. I use a few vouchers but it does become a faff checking them all so don't bother that much now.
My one gripe is toiletries they seem super expensive here and again vary hugely in price. Normal price on some items eg Nivea Eye make remover can vary from $9.99 in Superstore and Shoppers to $6.99 in No Frills.
We've just opened PC Bank account too so agree Real Canadian Superstore is the way to go.

Superstore is far superior to Saves on IMO.
If you bank through PC Financial, and use your card to pay, you collect points that you can ACTUALLY USE. Plus, they often have deals where if you spend over $200 you get some free item- 24 toilet rolls, collection of plastic tupperware containers, $25 gift voucher, etc.
It's also a bonus that they sell a lot of "english" items- lots of english biscuits, english style bacon, etc.

We've tended to do the main shopping at Superstore but generally don't pick up the fruit and veg from there as it can be quite poor. Used to use Costco in the UK but don't find it as useful here for some reason and let the member ship lapse, but might use it again. There is a new Walmart close to Superstore now and although I don't like the idea of shopping at Walmart it definately looks cheaper than Superstore. Safeway and COOP are a bit nicer and useful for fruit and veg but I wouldn't like to be paying COOP prices for everying for a family of 5.

I hate Superstore..
'how many bags sir?'
Looks at shopping on belt..
'I don't bloody know!!'
I even asked once if they could just keep giving while needed and put it as the last item on the bill, nope.
Charging for the bags is just a money grab in any case, like Richard Prior in that Superman film. We even bought those decent bags and either forget them or lose them or both.
For that reason alone I stay away.

Superstore gives you as near as you'll get to a British supermarket experience... i.e you get to pack your own shopping whilst the person on the checkout throws it down the belt as fast as they can.

I've never had an issue with the quality of the fruit & veg at the G.C.S. unlike others.
