My initial thoughts are that this would be pointless - it's unlikely that there are going to be many (if any) free channels being digitally broadcast that you could add manually to the sky box. Also I think the sky boxes are hard-coded to talk to the astra satellite (not actually sure about this tho).

You're heading for Vancouver right? Everybody here uses cable.

The dish might be of use, but the box, unlikely.... Vancouver is probably close enough to get some hooky channels from the US with appropriate equipment...

we have a dish attached to the side of the house from the last owners, but they got all their stuff via telus!! we are now on Shaw.

A dish in Canada cannot pick up signals from a satellite orbiting over, and aimed at, Europe.

Except for those that have satellite :)

Satellite companies are Star Choice (Shaw), Bell Canada & Telus (reseller for Bell, but a better deal). Telus also offer TV through the phone lines in some areas now and expanding.

I had Telus TV in Edmonton, the frustrations not worth it. Daily outages being the biggest issue.

Was that Telus satellite or ADSL TV?

ADSL TV. They didn't offer anything else back then.

Nope, no humour attempt, but it amazes me how many people think it's possible.
