salary in Montreal
Hello,
I will be working in Montreal and will be earning net salary of around 40,000 Canadian dollars PA. I am single, will be living on my own, and I really wish to save as much as I could. I was wondering how this salary fares in Montreal, or whether or not I could call this a "good salary" in Montreal for someone of my status. Thank you!

Re: salary in Montreal
Net as in after taxes and deductions? What is gross, that makes for easier comparison. Also what do you do? $40k for a brain surgeon would be bad, for retail it would be good. Some context needed.

One point I will comment on- is rental, on that salary (& I assume that the $40k is gross), is that you will find a rental place relatively inexpensive- certainly in relation to London or Vancouver or Toronto. If you are east of the 'main' (St Laurent), prices are on average, easier- the Plateau is a great are for someone single, but in high demand.
What's all this mean? If you're taking home around $2000-2500 per month, you should be able to get something nice for around $900-$1100. It won't be spectacular, but I think you get good value for your money in Montreal- two things to be aware of, though, is July 1 (moving day) & what a 4 1/2.....5 1/2.....6 1/2 mean.
Are you bilingual?
