Hello everyone,

As you may or may not know,the Rugby World Cup kicks off this September.
As I am a Kiwi coming to Nova Scotia that month I am looking around to see where I can watch it.
Would it be on regular TV or would I have to get Cable?
Are Canadians actually into Rugby or is it deemed as a lesser sport in comparison to Ice Hockey,CFL,Soccer etc?
New Zealand are in the same group as Canada this time so hoping to see some opposition fans out cheering on their losing team

It's highly unlikely it will be on regular TV in Canada. Canada's games may be on CBC but at this point it's unknown. It is a lesser sport here vs what you mentioned. Some games may be shown on Setanta. Don't forget there's a 15/16 hours time difference.

Setanta has two services, residential and commerical (known as Premim Sentana). Some big games are shown live for at commerical venues (e.g. pubs) and then re-shown to the residential customers (delay up to 24 hours from kick-off).

I watched one of the 6 nations matches at a bar in Ottawa (the only one reported as showing it), the picture quality from Setanta was not very good...lots of drop outs...we had to pay $20 per person to enter to cover their extra costs of showing it.

Just looked at the RWC website.

In the USA, NBC has some rights. That's easy enough to get on Canadian TV. Whether it would be live is another matter.

ITV has it in the UK...you ought to be able to stream that. I expect to.

TV is likely to have some games PPV for about $25 a time.

I think it is on Setanta. Swapped it over last month for film channels. May be allowed to get it back though. Would imagine you will only watch it till the Quarter's are done

On the plus side. Ice hockey will be done and dusted by september, so no need to watch that crap.
