Rogers sim failing to text
 

Anyone know why my Rogers prepay sim card fails to send texts to the UK? It seems to fire off okay, but it not received at the other end - yet I can receive texts from there fine.

are you replacing the 01 with +441?

ie
017909 123456 becomes
+4417909 123456

Yes. It doesn't even work when I directly reply to a UK text.

I asked at the Rogers shop why texting the UK didnt work and you have to ask Rogers, by phone they cant do it in the shop, to allow this function, same with sending photos.

If you are on pay as you go you can't text the UK. You have to go on a monthly contract and buy a text package, but you can stop the contract at any time.

I second that. I send at least a dozen texts a week to the UK and it doesn't cost me anything other than the monthly package fee.

$5 just for the text package or $10 for 3 packages such as voicemail, call display and text messages same as mine.

You are billed a month in advance but if you change to a lower cost package then then charge you the lower rate from that date.

You can with Fido. If you don't want a contract just get the handset unlocked and buy a sim.

Sorry thats totally incorrect - both my wife & I text the UK 3 or 4 times a week (grandkids) without any problem & we are both on Rogers PAYGO, text costs 30c a time but second page won't always go.

Actually, you can text the UK from Rogers pay as you go. You pay per use at $0.20 per message. You do need a monthly plan if you want one of the international text bundles.

I've not found international text to be particularly reliable, and I've not really noticed a difference between the pay as you go and monthly services. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If you do use it, make sure you turn on delivery receipts. There's no charge for using them, and you'll be able to see whether your messages got through.

That depends on the contract. Make sure your contract is 'month to month' if that's important to you.

International dialling may not be active on your SIM. If you can't phone the UK either then just get Rogers to switch it on. Should take no time at all.

I will seconded this too,

In fact just texted hubby that is in the UK for a week on work and it has only cost me 20cents.......

Only thing is I can`t phone him :unsure: But can phone the hotel with the house phone so i`m happy for the monthly plan we are on that only cost $24 a month to phone the UK for no other costs..
