Default Road Trip from Halifax, NS

Hi! Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a one-day road trip from the Halifax area? We've already been out to Truro, Lunenburg, and the Wolfville area. Was wondering if anyone had any tips for sites/towns off the beaten path? Obviously it's hard to know without listing all our interests but we're open to anything so we'd appreciate any suggestions. Like to keep it within four hours round trip. We have to be home for the next morning so no staying over the night anywhere. Thanks a lot in advance for any ideas.

Rob.

I know you said you had been to Lunenburg, but we had a great time in Mahone Bay.
Go and see pewter being made at the Amos shop, and if you go later in the year the Scarecrow festival was a great laugh

Is this a weekday trip now- are you living here or on a vacation? A weekend trip to Shubenacadie Wildlife park -drive there and walk around the park would be about 3-4 hours from Dartmouth. Unfortunately not open weekdays until May. Here is the link.

Lots of other places in the summer though.

Peggy's Cove - can't come to NS without going to Peggy's Cove! Not really the right time of year, but they do reasonable fish and chips and it's good to look at. You could probably fit Mahone Bay in on the same trip.

If it's foggy and cold the flight 111 memorial is an eerie place.

Have you been to Kejimkujik National Park. It is about 2 hours drive from Halifax. There may be restrictions on what you can do at this time of the year but it is worth a visit once the season kicks in. Lots to do: informative visitors centre, good trails for all abilities, canoeing, lots of wildlife and First Nation artefacts. Well worth a visit but you need to check opening times etc

I wouldn't suggest the Glooscap Trail (Fundy Shore Eco tour) as there isn't much Eco and few places to get off the road particulary the first part from Windsor to Truro. We got bored and came off at Truro so it could be better further along. Interested to know if anyone has completed the trail and has more positive feedback.

Do the Annapolis Valley trip.......get of the highway at Windsor and drive all through the Valley, stop in Kentville and have lunch at The Kings Arms, then if you still have time go on further and get back on the highway to come home........its a nice day trip!
