Right of Permanent Residents Fee Refund

Just wondered if anyone had received any money back. I have just changed my address online with CIC and to be honest I had forgot about the refund and whilst surfing I came across it. I was under the impression that it would be sent automatically and that you didn't need to apply? As a reminder it was $975 but now $485.

Not a penny yet though we only sent off the paperwork for the refund when we landed 10 weeks ago. I believe it mentioned that it could take up to a year.

This time period is understandable when you consider that Christmas, Easter, Summer holidays for CIC have to be funded somehow and the chump change in the coffee fund will only go so far. Maybe we should get a collection together and send it off to them? :p

Ditto to Stu-pot - we actually got a reminder sent to us from CHC (?!) - sent that off and got a cheque back after about 3 weeks (even though the paperwork had said it could take up to 6 months ... :)
Again, we are still in the UK ...

This is the first I have heard about it. We paid $975 when we applied. How do I go about getting a refund ?

Plus, how do I change my address online as we have moved since applying ?

I changed my address online - you need to input your Permanent Residency Number off the back of your card (it starts with 2 letters) then after it gives you the option to change other family members and it asks for their ID number off the front of their card.

Hope this helps.

was there a time limit on the refund, as we paid our fee's when we applied back in December 03 I think it was. Would we still be eligible for a refund?

We just had our passports back with visas attached (whoopeee) and in the envelope was the form from the high commision telling us the fee has been reduced from $975 to $490 and it states that you must inform them if your address has changed from the one on their files and that any address you give should be valid for at least 6 months.
The strange thing is we only paid these fees in September and so we paid the new lower fee and are not due a refund.
I wonder if i dare send it back anyway and see what happens.

If you've been in Canada nearly 18 months, you don't qualify. You have to have landed after May 3rd 2006 to be eligible.

We sent off the refund form shortly after landing at the beginning of July. Haven't heard a thing yet.
