Just joined,been in Rev 28 yrs,used to be nice and quite,but now booming,house prices tripled the last 3 yrs,unfortunatly i own a mobile home home,so it dosent realy go up in value,wasnt planing on staying long but was out in the bush cutting fire wood and i slipped while falling a tree which ultimatly fell on me,so didnt work for many years,used to work as a fitter or millwright.which is very physical,so i'm still here,not realy by choice,couldnt afford to leave,did less demanding work for a long time to make ends meet,got back in my trade 9 yrs back by joining a building trade union.which is 50 percent name request,so dont get many calls.not that many people from the UK here,dosent seem like a popular destination,realy miss having a yap with people from the old country,guess thats why i joined,probably the next best thing,nice place to live if your into shoveling snow,and it raines the rest of the year,getting cold,have to light the wood stove,the thing that indirectly caused me all the hardship,i'm from Leicester way back,still keep in touch with old school mates who i met through friends reunited even though it's been 45 yrs since the last time i saw them,cheers Paul

Boy, sounds like you had some tough luck. Still, you made the best of it. I can't imagine there would be too many ex Brits in your neck of the woods, so settle down for the winter months and gab away on here! Many and varied opinions on just about everything you can think of. It's all interesting stuff, though.

Paul that's too bad that it went missing in Cyber Space, but i would love to read it if you feel motivated to try it again sometime.
Perhaps write it in a word document or something first then cut and paste into here - just a thought and don't know how new you are to the computer.

Well just wrote another long winded one which went way back to living in the Yukon,then thought better of is as i thought it was going to end up like the last one,so just sent the first few lines which i see arived,

Was thinking,writing about my early years and the shock i had when i went for a beer in a hotel near hastings and main,the skid row,hilarious as it was and my years in the Yukon,and how things have changed etc,dosent realy fall into the meet and greet category,what that would fall under beets me,well i introduced myself and had replies which felt great,my birth day was 40 mins ago.got a greeting from the pats,and look forward to writing new posts and giving advic etc,feel like iv'e been here forever after reading posts from people just starting out or on there way Paul

Paul it sounds like you've had a real adventure in your time in Canada and I'm looking forward to hearing more as we get to know you through our shared posts here on BE.
By the way (BTW) if you are unsure where to put a post - stick it in the "Maple Leaf" section for general topics - pretty safe with that.

Yes will do that,maybe tomorrow,have fond memories of ontario,where i gather you live,spent 6 months in Windsor at the crysler plant on the line,the monotony was awful

Yes i remember watching that.Theres a book called that too,I've probably lived in some of them before they became ghost towns
