However, the good news is that if your brother is a Permanent Resident and has been for at least 2 years (and has lived in Alberta for those 2 years too), then he can apply to sponsor you via the Alberta PNP programme - but you'd have to settle in Alberta as well. But you're very lucky as siblings are not normally eligible to be sponsored, Alberta is one of only 3 provinces that allows it!
Have a look at this for more info..............http://www.albertacanada.com/immigra...ilystream.html
As for money, pension questions etc, then have a good read of the Wiki (on blue bar at top of page) which has info about all that kind of thing.
Good luck.

I know of a couple of people on this forum who have retired to Canada. Stay tuned I am sure they will be along and be able to give you some real insight.

Assuming your brother can sponsor you one thing to be aware of is that drug costs are not covered by the provincial insurance here, and pre existing conditions will not be covered by any insurance you get for yourself.
It might not apply to you, but many people of retirement age are on regular medication, and the cost here could be eye watering.
Why do you want to retire to canada anyway, most retiring canadians who can afford it are looking to head somewhere warmer, at least part of the year. Why give up all your friends and distractions, connections and support network where you are only to have to start again?

You could apply under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (Family Stream) mentioned above based on the fact that you have a brother in Alberta but one of the other criteria for this is that you must be under 45 year old. That would make you a fairly young retiree and I assume that isnt the case.
