Research Holiday

Hi Guys!

We missed out on the Visa program this year, but we're hoping to get on board with the Visa system 2015 or early 2016.

We've visited Toronto before and loved it, so that's the area we're planning to move to :) However, we would much prefer to live outside of the city (Dream place would be in the woods Cedar Valley / Mt Albert but realise that more dream than practical). As a youth worker / programmer combo, we'll likely be getting jobs in or near downtown Toronto, correct if I'm wrong.

So, until we work our way out to the sticks, we'd be looking for a Suburb to live, from maps / posts here we're thinking maybe Scarborough for the Subway, or perhaps even Newmarket on the Train although it's an hour out? Since we're unsure we're going for a research / holiday trip in February to see what it's like in the cold, and to drive around some of the "outside" bits of Toronto!

Where do you all suggest we go? :)

Already thoughts on Scarborough and then a day out somewhere close by,

Then a day in Newmarket, maybe mall-rat for the day, catch a movie and head back.

What else?

Thanks for any and all help!

Graeme

If you plan on working downtown, the next town East of Scarborough is Pickering and you can just hop onto the Go train (nicer than Scarborough)

I agree with above, Pickering, Ajax and Whitby are within close proximity to GO and the 401 and IMO affordable housing and rent.
