Thanks also, RICH, Jericho and Siouxie (Siouxie - 12 months whoah!)

We should have enough to cover 3 months deposit, OH will be working from day one as well as he has a job lined up already (yay!).

Don't forget you may also need deposits for utilities/phone/cell phone, so make sure you have enough for those as well.

:)

Ontario seems to be first and last months rent. You may want to have a look on MLS.ca for rental properties and go through a realtor, as they can help find places that match your requirements. I used a realtor for the first place I rented when I came over here.
From memory I recall I had to fill out some real estate association form, plus supply a letter of employment, so you could be required to the same thing.

Deposits on utilities is a very good point, especially as you won't have any credit history here.

Good hunting!

In Quebec it was surprisingly easy. I was armed with references from my European landlord, local credit union where I had just opened an account, & was prepared to pay several months rent in advance. I didn't need any of them, in the event, just paid 1 month rent up front.

Hydro didn't require a deposit, just a SIN. Bell was 200$.

Hi

Do you pay to use a realtor when looking to rent?
Thanks

Usually the landlord pays.
