Rental properties

Hi,

Can someone point me in the direction of websites to look at rental properties, I can only find houses for sale. Will (hopefully) be moving to Vancouver island, Victoria area.

Are properties big enough for 4 kids and 2 adults hard to find, and how hard will it be for us to find a landlord that will accept newbies to the country.

I am also trying to work out if the salary offered to my husband will be ok, is there an equivalent to council tax that we will need to pay?

Thank you for any help
Amy

Have you checked the Wiki? There are a couple of relevant articles -

Real Estate Taxes-Canada : British Expat Wiki

For advice on hubby's income you'll need to disclose it to us so people in similar situation can tell their experiences.
If you find a suitable rental property there should be no council tax (Realty Taxes here). Landlord usually includes in Rent.

Re: Rental properties

Property taxes (Canadian Equivalent of Council Tax) is paid by the owner of the property not the occupier. So if you're renting you don't pay it.

Most rentals are listed on Used Victoria, Craigslist or in the newspaper ( it is online too)-Times Colonist. They are often not listed until a month before available date.

That's brilliant, thank-you very much I will have a look on there. Just want to see what sort of thing is available and what prices we should expect.
