Renewing UK passports....
 

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has renewed their UK passports while in Canada? Both of ours have run out, I have a Canadian one, so not to concerned, But Tonys App for Cit has only just been sent in, ( that may take 15mths to clear!!:ohmy:) and so he should have a valid passport, but am I reading it right .....$425 to renew via Ottawa ....that cant be right, can it.....any info would be greatly received.

Just renewed my passport via Ottowa....they are no longer processing passport applications, they are now being done in Washington......i suspect the process will be the same though:)

$475.75 seems crazy when I renewed mine last year through Ottawa it was $275 and according to this:

The fee is $190 USD plus $15 postage.

$475 can't be right surely? Looks like that company is adding something on top for the hassle (?!??!) of them forwarding your application via them....?

For that price it would be nearly cheaper to take a trip back to the UK and a day visit to Peterborough!

It's nothing to do with the Passport Office - what a con! I thought the Post Office "check and send" fees were ludicrous (and pointless) - but they've got nothing on that lot :eek:

According to the UK in Canada section of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, it's only US$190.00 for a standard 32-page adult Passport, and US$230.00 for a 48-page one.
