Renewing BC Health Card

Hi there,

Our original BC Health cards were dated to expire when my Work Permit expired (I received Permanent Residency prior to the Work Permit expiring).

How do we get new BC Health cards issued to prove we're entitled to care?

My employer is still paying the contributions, but I've just been sent a bill for a GP visit last week.

Many thanks,

Sarah

Re: Renewing BC Health Card

You will need to provide MSP with the documents that prove your a PR. copy of PR card is sufficient usually.

Give MSP a call to see if you need to re-apply or simply provide them with the documentation.

Sarah, we were in the same position last November, and we received new cards in May - be prepared for a potentially long wait, with all the implications in the meantime for not having a valid health card should you need treatment/prescriptions.
