renegotiate offer after signing?
Has anyone ever gone basckto ask for more after signing an offer letter?
The timing was a bit bad but I got offered a 2ndjob a day after signing an offer at company A.
The morals of it seem a bit off but realistically it's stilll another offer same as if you were leaving your current job and most would negotiate that or leave.
Problem is that I'd rather work for company A but at the salary of company B.

To the OP, I would expect employer A will most likely withdraw their offer and say good luck to you. Signing an agreement and then reneging on that agreement, whatever the circumstances, wont reflect well on you.

Employers do this all the time. It's not right, but it is what it is.

Interesting post here:

From experience it's easier to get pay rises before joining than it is during employment.

I wouldn't risk it.

Also they have a strong recruiting drive on now. There are 3 other roles similar to mine not filled yet.

If you were up front and told them about the second company during the process then you could potentially say that they have thrown you a better offer and you wondered if your first offer could meet you half way.
If you did not mention the second company during the process then they'll probably be disgruntled that you are blindsiding them.

I would not bother to be honest, I have been at my current company about 6 months now and have had a modest bonus and a modest raise, they have paid for me to study and convert my UK qualifications to the Canadian equivalent. So I'd suggest you never know what is around the corner and there maybe raises, bonuses or opportunities at employer A. No point burning your bridges!

I wouldn't take a higher a job unless its a preferred company who you want to work for. Better to make a bit less and like the company your at, then to make more but be miserable.
Granted I am not in any type of level job wise where one signs or negotiates anything, so I am a bit clueless here as to that process, I am just told what the pay is, take it or leave it....lol

How you deal with this is a reflection on you, no one else.
